Data Protection Policy

Introduction

The Dyslexia Correction Centre retains information about its customers to meet their support requirements.

Normally, we do not disclose or share personal information about customers. In the cases we do need to share personal information about customers, we will only do so with their explicit consent. If the data is shared or used for research purposes, it will be made anonymous by removing personal information that could be used to identify the customers.

The Dyslexia Correction Centre will comply with the Data Protection Principles as set out in the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) 2018. Information will be used fairly, stored safely and not disclosed to any other person unlawfully.

Data Controller

The data controller is Jane Heywood who is responsible for:

recording and storing data
processing as defined in how we use your data
reporting any data breaches

Information we may collect from you

We may collect and process the following data about you:

Information that you provide by filling in forms on our website
If you contacted us, we may keep a record of your contact details and that correspondence
Information and notes that we need to support your facilitation and training
Copies of documents from other parties which you have provided to us
Photographs
We may ask you to complete surveys that we use for research purposes, although you do not have to respond to them. Survey data will be made anonymous.
Information that we require to process invoices, receipts and to file tax returns.

We will ensure that the data held is accurate, adequate, relevant and not excessive.

We aslo store your information securely either in locked cabinets or with password protected electronic storage.

Your Rights to Your Data

As defined by the GDPR regulations, you have the following rights:

Right to be informed (what information we store about you)
Right to access (you can read the information we keep)
Right to rectification (correction of errors)
Right to erasure (deletion of personally identifiable information)
Right to restrict processing (do not include in mailing lists for example)
Right to data portability (you can ask for a full electronic copy of information we hold about you)
Right to object (do not include in any data analytics)

Uses made of the Information

We use information held about you in the following ways:

To carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us
For administration purposes including invoices and receipts and training effectiveness assessments
To send out Christmas Cards and other mailings to maintain contact for potential follow up
To provide you with information, products or services that you have requested or may be of interest to you
To enable us to compile statistics, or to assist other organisations to do so, with the restriction that no information that would identify you as an individual will be published.

Disclosure of Your Information

In certain circumstances we may need to seek advice from other Davis Dyslexia or Davis Autism Facilitators. In such circumstances we do not share personal information that can be used to identify you as a client. Should we need to share more specific personal information, we will always seek your consent.

The Dyslexia Correction Centre also communicates with its parent association, Davis Dyslexia Association International (DDAI), which is the licensing body for our professional members and the Davis Learning Foundation which is the UK representative branch. These parties are deemed to have a legitimate interest in certain data and documentation pertaining to the training and membership status of their Facilitators. We will only share with these organisations the non-personal data and documentation needed to ensure we provide you with a high-quality service. These parties have a mutual agreement with us to maintain the security and privacy of this information.
